Food for Life Classes
Food for Life is an award-winning Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) program designed by physicians, nurses, and registered dietitians that offers cancer, diabetes, weight management, employee wellness, and kids classes that focus on the lifesaving effects of healthful eating. Each class includes information about how certain foods and nutrients work to promote health, along with cooking demonstrations of simple and nutritious recipes that can be recreated easily at home.
These class series are offered on the Virginia Peninsula to accommodate health-minded citizens of Newport News, Hampton, York County, Yorktown, James City County and Williamsburg.
PCRM is a non-profit organization in Washington, DC, that researches nutrition and educates consumers. These classes incorporate the latest nutritional research, published in peer-reviewed medical journals. (Most doctors and dieticians do not yet have this latest information.) And, this information was carefully edited to make it interesting and relevant to the ordinary citizen. It is brought all the way down to what to shop for in your local supermarket and how to prepare it for your family.
